Job Overview:
Responsible for providing clear and timely regulatory input to the R&D, QA, Marketing, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams for innovation projects and existing product changes, ensuring that Canadian and International regulations are fully met. The role will require in-depth knowledge of applicable regulations and the ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to achieve business success, while accounting for regulatory risks, opportunities, constraints, and future regulatory changes.
Location: This position is based out of our Head Office at 15 Marmac Drive (Etobicoke, Ontario) and is hybrid with in office presence required 2x per week
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the development, implementation, and improvement of procedures and testing programs related to regulatory requirements for ingredients / finished products
Liaise with PD, Procurement, Supply Chain, and QA teams to ensure ingredients / products requiring testing are brought forward in a timely manner.
Provide information required for products for food safety and other regulatory audits.
Update and maintain processes to address regulatory requirements for ingredients / products proactively.
Actively live and role model our Leadership competencies by holding self and team (including all direct report ‘people leaders’) accountable for creating a positive work environment and culture through administration of our People Processes and Tools.
Performance Management: Ensure proper onboarding and development of all staff by completing induction process, coaching and developing capabilities, executing PDP start/mid-year dialogues, and engaging in corrective action when required
Talent & Succession: Ensure job vacancies are filled by completing the required processes and representing the company with integrity throughout the recruitment process
Training: Ensure completion of function compliance training
Engagement: Ensure an engaged workforce through development of sound working relationships and execution of Employee Survey action plans
Company Values (RDQAS): Ensure teams model our Company values and hold others accountable for the same
Ensure all ingredients / finished products adhere to policies at both certification and processing levels.
Maintain ingredient / finished product compliance tools and update policies as appropriate to enable success and quick product launches.
Enable liaison with ingredient suppliers to ensure continued compliance of ingredients / finished products.
Stay informed of new applicable laws and maintain up-to-date knowledge on regulations affecting ingredients through attending courses, webinars, and the use of regulatory agencies’ websites
Participate in bi-weekly learnings shared by the team.
Inform the team of any emerging risks that may impact labelling and regulatory requirements.
Participate in consultations with regulatory agencies and assist in providing feedback on upcoming regulatory changes on behalf of Give & Go.
The Recipe for Success:
Completion of university degree in Nutrition, Food Science, or a related scientific field
7 years experience in the Food Manufacturing industry
5 years experience in a Regulatory Affairs role
Certificate in Food Labelling, Regulatory Affairs or Food Law.
Excellent knowledge and application of food labelling and advertising regulations
Excellent analytical abilities, e.g., setting priorities, meeting deadlines
Work collaboratively with colleagues and interact with vendors and other stakeholders
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Able to multi-task, work effectively with minimal supervision, and meet multiple deadlines
Proficient in computer literacy e.g., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
Excellent leadership abilities, with the ability to lead a team of Regulatory Affairs professionals towards a common goal
