Researchers continue to advance their scholarship, leading in areas of innovation for quality care across the lifespan.Your opportunity:The Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto invites applications for aResearch Officer who will oversee an interdisciplinary program of research focused on patient-orientedresearch, sex and gender, and reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease and its complications using qualitative and quantitative research methods. The Research Officer will assist with designing the content and core architecture of digital health interventions and decision aids, usability testing and provide day-to-day coordination of pre-post and pilot randomized controlled trial interventions.The Research Officer will use their strong research and analytical skills to support research projectprotocol development. Solid communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills will enable theResearch Officer to contribute to advancing the overall goals and initiatives of the various projects thatalign with the Sustainable Developmental Goals. Your responsibilities will include:
Following rules and procedural instructions when administering research studies
Drafting and submitting documented procedures to the Research Ethics Board (REB) for approval
Implementing and executing qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
Overseeing the data collection and analysis processes
Conducting systematic literature reviews
Directing the activities of casual staff
Maintaining project records
Drafting summaries of research project results
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in the health sciences (nursing, public health, medicine etc.), or social sciences
Minimum two (2) years of relevant health-related work experience conducting research, analyzing, interpreting and reporting on results
Demonstrated experience planning and implementing research projects, including developing research project protocols
Demonstrated experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection, including participant recruitment, interpretation and analysis through coordination of focus groups, interviews, and validated research questionnaires
Demonstrated experience drafting summaries of research results, preparing written materials for knowledge translation purposes and conducting literature reviews
Experience in data management, conducting basic statistical analysis of data and other forms of quantitative data is required
Experience performing qualitative data analysis
Experience assisting with manuscript preparation and preparing materials for conference presentations
Experience in preparing grant proposals and Research Ethics Board submissions
Demonstrated experience directing the activities of research assistants
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office), database management (RedCap) and data analysis software (SPSS)
Experience with qualitative data management packages (NVivo)
Proficiency with reference management tools (Mendeley, Endnote)
Strong research and analytical skills
Demonstrates initiative and possesses a commitment to research work
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communications skills (oral and written) with an ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and proven ability to meet deadlines
Understanding of confidentiality within a research context
Assets (Nonessential):
Master’s degree in health sciences, or Social Sciences
Experience with Project Management
Experience with data collection and analysis including but not limited to surveys and qualitative data
