Position Summary:
This position will fulfill the role of a Social Worker in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. The incumbent will be responsible for completing comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessments and provide targeted treatment to Children, Adolescents and their families via structured individual and group therapy. The principle modalities for treatment delivery are Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Responsibilities also include providing mental health care to patients with complex medical and psychiatric needs, facilitating and co-facilitating psychotherapy groups, and fostering a therapeutic milieu. Provide clinical teaching, mentoring and/or supervision for Social Work students; engaging with inter professional education experiences with students of all health disciplines.
Reporting to the Patient Care Manager of the Ambulatory Mental Health Services, the successful candidate will be an integral member of the inter-professional team.
Educational Requirements:
MSW from an accredited Faculty of Social Work
Member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSW & SSW) and in good standing
Minimum five years of clinical experience working with children and adolescents and their families
Qualifications:
Solid mental health experience with children, adolescents and families who are living with complex psychiatric disorders
Experience working effectively within an inter-professional collaboration model
Group psychotherapy experience required and essential
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to interact with patients and their families in an empathetic manner
Ability to be flexible and willingness to provide a variety of tasks as required for the smooth functioning of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services
Demonstrates flexibility and adapts to change and variety on the job (e.g., effectively perform job during unexpected situations or changing conditions)
Ability to support a model of recovery is essential
Must possess excellent organizational, time management and critical thinking skills
