Position Title: Pastry Chef Company Name: CMH Heli-Skiing & Summer Adventures Reports To: Lodge Manager and Lead Chef Location of Work: Remote worksite near various locations in BC (near Revelstoke, Golden, Radium, Valemount) Job Status: Full-time, Seasonal FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Number of Positions: 15 Direct Reports: 0 Date of Last Review: August 2025 Desired Start Date: Mid-November 2025 Position Overview The Pastry Chef is responsible for executing high-quality breads, baking and desserts throughout the ski program. If you thrive in a small kitchen in a remote setting, and you love to ski and be in the outdoors, this unique pastry chef opportunity may be for you. This is a seasonal job opportunity. Daily rate of pay is based on an 11-hour day, worked as a split shift. A typical schedule consists of 2 weeks on and 1 week off. Accommodation is available while on shift, at no extra cost, for staff joining our team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Oversee the preparation of all aspects of the pastry program, including breads, baked goods, confections, and desserts. Review, plan, and coordinate menus with other members of the culinary team. Complete food orders, inventory controls and food rotations to minimize wastage. Ensure the regular cleaning and upkeep of the kitchen area. Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment and service tools. Attend all staff and department meetings, as required, and pre-service line-ups. Respond to special requests and dietary needs in an attentive and effective manner. Maintain a professional appearance and proper timekeeping. Perform radio duty, as required, to support field operations. Willingness to assist other members of the lodge team as needed. Follow OH&S, food safe, and WHMIS best-practices. Help support implementation of CMH health and safety initiatives. Help support implementation of CMH sustainability initiatives. Train, participate in and provide support, as required, during emergency response situations. Minimum Qualifications Diploma or certificate in a pastry program. Red Seal Chef, or equivalent, preferred. Food Safe Certification. 5 years of culinary experience with varied exposure. 2+ years’ experience in menu planning and execution. Background in luxury hospitality or fine dining, preferred. Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Qualities Demonstrates integrity, discretion, and problem solving. Has demonstrated attention-to-detail, with accurate data-entry skills and abilities. Able to communicate in an effective and timely manner over the phone, in-person, and in written communication. Positive and collaborative working style with an ability to build meaningful relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and professional working relationships with peers. Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office, as well as an ability to learn other relevant software platforms. Able to prioritize tasks in a complex and fast-paced environment with seasonal workload fluctuations and changing priorities. Confidence to interact with all levels of the company in a hub-and-spoke model in which many individuals are remote. Effectively prioritize tasks, responsibilities, and goals; use goals to guide actions and create detailed action plans. Working Conditions This type of culinary work is challenging and demanding. Successful staff are intrinsically motivated by a passion for food service and creating memorable experiences with our guests. Work Environment: This job is in a remote area of British Columbia. Employees are required to find their own way to and from the lodge or helicopter staging area for work shifts. Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis. This position is required, at times, to work on evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the needs of the business. This position may require occasional travel to CMH areas, as well as some travel to industry functions on an occasional basis. Compensation A competitive daily rate will be provided starting at $318.05 based on skillset and experience, along with 4% vacation pay and potential opportunities to heli-hike and heli-ski, as available.
