The Structures Manager is directly responsible to Maintenance Manager for the administration and production of the shop. They are also responsible for ensuring that all maintenance work in their area of responsibility is carried out in strict conformity with the Canadian Aviation Regulations, and the Company MCM/MPM.Job DescriptionEnsure that all maintenance activities carried out in the shop are accomplished in strict conformity with the Canadian Aviation Regulations and Standards, and Company MCM/MPMEnsure that all maintenance activities including, but not limited to parts changes, special processes, special and scheduled inspections, accomplishment of Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins, material scrapping, etc., are accurately documented using the Company Work Order System in order to provide traceability to the work accomplished and standards appliedMaintain up-to-date component build sheets where applicable and shall review all incoming internal and external source materials to ensure that applicable Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins are incorporated as requiredMaintain a shelf-life control log or other acceptable database and shall ensure that all parts and products held in the structures shop and subject to shelf life limitations are removed from serviceable stock on or before they become dueMaintain a shop tool control log or other acceptable database and shall ensure that all shop tools, all shop-personnel owned tools and equipment, which are subject to calibration and/or recertification are removed from service as required on or before the due dateIn conjunction with the Material Department Manager, shall ensure that shop inventories are maintained at optimum levelsCoordinate production planning with the Material Department Manager and respective Shop Managers to ensure effective utilization of shop staff and competitive turn-times of aeronautical productsProvide technical support and mentoring to shop personnel including, but not limited to, troubleshooting, interpretation of manufacturer’s technical publications, the use of special tooling, parts requirements, application of Company policies and procedures, etc.Ensure that shop personnel are properly trained and instructed in their duties and recommend applicable upgrading courses to the Director of Technical Services as requiredEnsure that all shop areas are kept clean, orderly, and organizedAdvise the Quality Manager of any discrepancies or proposed changes relating to aeronautical products, inspection procedures and documents within the departmentCarry out periodic performance reviews of shop personnel. Where necessary, shall apply disciplinary measures in accordance with the applicable policies in KBA’s Employee Manual, including documenting actions taken.Certify aeronautical products on behalf of the organization in accordance with his Company Certification AuthorizationWith the exception of shops dependent or mandated to bring in third party business, shall not undertake third party maintenance activities unless authorized to do so by the Director of Technical ServicesShall carry out other duties as assigned by the Maintenance ManagerQualificationsMinimum five (5) years sheet metal experience in a supervisory roleTransport Canada certified AME-S licenseAbility to read and interpret mechanical/engineering drawings and technical instructionsDHC-6 and/or DC-3T experience preferredMust possess effective verbal and written communication skillsPossess the ability to plan, schedule and integrate complex eventsAdditional InformationKenn Borek Air offers a comprehensive employment package containing competitive wages, an excellent company-funded benefits program, a wellness flexible spending account, and an RRSP matching program.
