Learn more at shn.ca Job Description: Summary The Payroll & Systems Analyst supports Payroll deployment and ongoing development and maintenance of the Workday HCM at Scarborough Health Network. Utilizing strong working knowledge of Payroll, the Payroll & Systems Analyst participates in the analysis, design, development, testing, validation and implementation of the HCM system, upgrades and modified workflows. The Payroll & Systems Analyst is a key resource for HCM related issues/escalations related to all Workday modules but with an emphasis on the Payroll module. The Analyst works closely with clients to determine root cause and solution problems in a timely and accurate manner. The Payroll & Systems Analyst works with end users and Payroll leadership to support ongoing learning, system development, improving Payroll and business processes and optimizing the HCM. Responsibilities: The Payroll & Systems Analyst will help lead operational responsibilities associated with Payroll. The role will oversee day-to-day administration of Payroll, ensuring smooth workflows, and prompt resolution of operational issues that may arise as well as address issues related to the Pay module in Workday. The Analyst will provide technical expertise and ownership of the operations and maintenance of the Pay modules. They will act as a trouble-shooter, interpret problems as perceived and explained by end-users, business partners and administrative users to investigate problems and identify a solution(s). The focus is on developing innovative Payroll process improvements and enhancements to the user experience with the intent to automate Payroll and business processes in an intuitive and proficient manner. The Payroll & Systems Analyst will work independently or in consultation with other HCM Analysts or vendors to: Coordinate and support Workday releases including assessing, documenting, testing new features and functionality and recommending enhancements that will benefit SHN. Analyze and test how the introduction of new methodologies or logic will impact current work processes/flow. Develop and maintain system documentation and design solutions to address business needs. Engage stakeholders to support recommendations for implementation of new functionality and/or revisions to current functionality to increase utilization of current and/or future capabilities. Conduct research using Workday’s online courses, Workday Community and Workday Admin Guide to deliver high-quality operational support, connect with peer hospitals. The Analyst will be responsible for training Workday users on the Pay modules (if not others) and ensuring users understand workflow and are provided the tools to become proficient at using the system. The Analyst will develop, maintain, and present training materials including workflows for use by users and will adapt instructional techniques to a variety of learning needs and degrees of familiarity with Workday. The Analyst will be responsible for system maintenance and configurations, the configurations of new or existing payroll codes, mapping payroll codes to the GL and cost centre structure, year end configurations, updating the system for the new calendar year, setting up the pay schedule, system integrations, trouble shooting, testing and deploying system enhancements, report writing. Aside from the systems administration, the Analyst will also play a key role in helping the Payroll Team with day-to-day operations, payroll processing, account reconciliations, and year end. Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of 4 years Payroll experience and previous experience with Workday is required. Knowledge of other Workday modules and how they interconnect with the Pay Module an asset. Systems implementation, testing and enhancements. WD report writing an asset. Knowledge of UKG (Time and Attendance) an asset. Minimum of 4 years Full Payroll cycle and year end processing. Healthcare experience with union and defined pension plan, or other similar organizations. Post-secondary degree in related field of study (i.e. Payroll, Accounting, Human Resources, Business Admin., Information Technology (Architecture), Information Management, etc.) or equivalent combination of education and experience. National Payroll Institute (NPI) certification. Successfully completed Workday certification in (list courses). Good interpersonal and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to well independently, with a solid sense of ownership and accountability for the outcomes as well as the ability work as part of a team. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality, professionalism & tact when working with confidential data. Experience on building integrations on Workday would be considered a significant asset. Foundational expertise of key Payroll processes, and interdependencies within HRIS. Solid analytical and technical skills to gather, interpret and report on data from various sources such as multiple HRIS platforms. Proven ability to work with shifting priorities, and the ability to reassess and reprioritize competing business needs. Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
