Position Title: Senior UX Designer
Reports To: AVP, Brand Impact & Creative Services
Department: Impact Areas
Term: Temporary Full-Time, Fifteen (15) Month Contract
Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

The UX Designer for Impact Areas plays a key role in shaping digital experiences for advisors and clients by translating user research into intuitive designs and prototypes. This high-impact role requires strong collaboration, creativity, and stakeholder engagement to deliver user-centered solutions that align with business and technical needs. What you will be doing:
Translate complex concepts and interactions into simple, elegant, and coherent design, and define and take user journeys from concept through implementation.
Facilitate the product vision by researching, conceiving, sketching, prototyping and user-testing experiences for digital and omni channel products.
Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mock-ups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.
Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions.
Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
Take a user-centred design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs.
Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
Ask smart questions, take risks and champion new ideas.
Gauge the usability of new and existing products and make constructive suggestions for change.
Execute on the Individual Insurance division vision and roadmap.
Monitor key performance indicators for our digital experiences.
Engage with external partners and clients directly to understand their needs.
Stay on top of current and emerging digital trends, bringing new and innovative ideas to elevate our client and partner digital experiences.
Work closely with agile teams ensuring front end digital and paper-based experiences align with and support back-office functions.
Align with both Savings & Retirement and Group Benefits divisions to ensure consistent delivery of digital experiences.
What you will bring:
Three or more years of UX design experience.
Must have a clear understanding of user behavior, and be proficient in a wide variety of skills, ranging from psychology to design and technology.
Expertise in standard UX software such as Figma, Sketch, OmniGraffle, Axure, InVision, UXPin, Balsamiq, Framer, and the like is a must. Basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus.
Experience with Ceros is nice to have.
Ability to work with clients to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet client needs and vision.
Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.
A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns.
Ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
Ability to communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions clearly and effectively.
A clear understanding of the importance of user-centered design and design thinking.
Ability to work effectively in a team setting including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implications.
Be excited about collaborating and communicating closely with teams and other stakeholders, to regularly deliver design solutions for approval.
Be passionate about resolving user pain points through great design.
Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
Be passionate about all things UX and other areas of design and innovation. Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies.
Strong experience with client journey mapping.
Deep experience with Agile ways of working.
