Nasdaq is seeking an experienced employment lawyer to join our legal team. This individual contributor role will provide expert legal counsel on employment matters across Canada, supporting HR and business leaders in fostering a compliant, inclusive, and high-performing workplace. In addition, opportunities will exist in the future for this role to provide support for other regions in the Americas and work on global projects for the Legal and People teams at Nasdaq. This role is based in St. John’s, NL or Toronto, ON and is in-office 3 days per week. Employment Law Advisory & Compliance Provide legal advice on Canadian federal and provincial employment laws, including ESA, OHSA, and human rights legislation. Monitor and interpret legislative changes and case law developments across jurisdictions and advise stakeholders accordingly. Workplace Investigations & Dispute Resolution Lead or support internal investigations into workplace complaints, including harassment, discrimination, and code of conduct violations. Manage employment-related litigation, arbitration, and administrative proceedings, including those before provincial labor boards and human rights tribunals. Policy Development & Risk Management Draft and review employment policies, handbooks, and codes of conduct to ensure legal compliance and alignment with company values. Advise on employment aspects of corporate transactions, including due diligence and integration planning. Collaboration & Training Partner with HR and business leaders to support initiatives such as DEI, remote work, and organizational change. Develop and deliver training on employment law topics to HR and management teams. Experience & Qualifications Member in good standing of a Canadian provincial or territorial law society (Ontario or Newfoundland preferred) Minimum 10 years of post-call experience in employment law, ideally with a mix of private practice and in-house counsel roles. Proven ability to manage complex, cross-border legal matters and employment disputes Strong understanding of HR processes, employee relations, and labour relations Come as You Are Nasdaq is an equal opportunity employer.
