What You'll Do
Fortnite’s Player Expression team is focused on giving players and creators an expansive range of tools to express identity, creativity, and style. From character customization to creator-built experiences, we power the systems that let players show who they are and bring their ideas to life. As a Gameplay Systems Programmer on this team, you’ll design and implement core systems that support cosmetics, characters, cars, and other forms of expression within Fortnite and the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN). You’ll contribute to player-facing features and creator workflows, working across the Fortnite ecosystem to enable the next generation of amazing games. This is a highly collaborative and forward-thinking role where your work will directly impact millions of players and creators.
In this role, you will
Implement, augment, and maintain gameplay features and systems that underpin cosmetics, characters and player expression
Be a team player, building relationships with adjacent teams across gameplay, art, animation, performance, and tooling
Design robust, extensible, scalable and memory-efficient systems that perform well across multiple platforms
Build systems that are intuitive for non-technical creators new to game development, while remaining powerful for experienced developers
Advocate for the player experience, preserving and enhancing the library of cosmetics players have acquired
Collaborate and innovate on big projects to drive the future of the Fortnite ecosystem
Support the ongoing development of a live service game with high-quality code and adaptability
This role is open to multiple locations in North America (excluding CA, NY, & WA).
