Key Accountabilities:
As a Financial Planning Analyst, you will:
Collaborate with departmental managers to develop budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial outlooks aligned with organizational goals.
Create and enhance planning templates and manage timelines for input completion.
Conduct research on economic indicators (e.g., fuel rates, inflation, FX) to inform financial strategy.
Prepare financial models, reports, and presentations for senior leadership, the Ministry of Health, and the Board of Directors.
Act as a super user of financial planning systems (Cognos TM1), developing and enhancing reporting tools.
Perform risk and opportunity analyses, including “what if” scenarios and ad-hoc financial assessments.
Represent Finance on cross-functional project teams, integrating financial considerations into planning and execution.
Review and prepare financial sections of briefing notes, business cases, and procurement proposals.
Approve purchase order requisitions and ensure compliance with financial policies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
5–6 years of experience in budgeting, financial planning, and analysis.
CPA designation or candidate status; CFA with relevant experience also considered.
Strong understanding of GAAP, with exposure to PSAS, ASPE, and IFRS.
Experience in the Broader Public Sector and familiarity with its financial frameworks.
Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office, specifically advanced excel skills.
IBM Cognos Express considered an asset.
Ability to design and present financial analysis and performance metrics.
Excellent communication skills and ability to train and support business unit managers.
Experience liaising with resolving vendor queries, leading financial update meetings.
Exceptional customer service skills to work with internal stakeholders.
