Reporting to the Team Lead of the Business Intelligence Development Unit, under the Business Analytics, Intelligence and Reporting (BAIR) Section, the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) seeks a highly organized and analytical professional to interpret data from various sources, with a primary focus on CORITY disability management and health and safety systems. This role involves generating insightful reports, identifying trends, and collaborating with stakeholders to derive actionable insights. Strong proficiency in predictive analytics and machine learning across diverse datasets is essential to support proactive, data-driven decision-making.
Specific responsibilities of this position will include:
Design, develop, and maintain dashboards, visual metrics, and analytical tools to support data-driven decision-making related to member health, safety, and wellbeing.
Analyze data from multiple sources to identify trends, assess initiative outcomes, and support strategic and operational planning.
Apply research, benchmarking, predictive analytics, and statistical methods to evaluate programs and set performance targets.
Ensure data accuracy and quality through rigorous testing, validation, and documentation of data models and processes.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, align analytical outputs with organizational goals, and disseminate insights effectively.
Conduct ad hoc queries and generate reports to meet evolving business needs.
Promote data literacy and support education on the value and application of analytics across the organization.
Coordinate data collection and tracking efforts to measure the impact of wellness and organizational initiatives.
Participate in inter-agency meetings and collaborations to stay informed on best practices and emerging trends.
Support operational, investigative, and other organizational areas as needed, and perform additional duties as required.
University degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Human Resources, Sociology or other related fields of study.
A minimum of two (2) years experience evaluating and analyzing data for trends, correlations, and significance of findings, including experience in data management and manipulation, statistical analysis and reporting.
Advanced skill level in Excel, and coding in R, Python or Structured Query Language (SQL).
Proficient in data collection, database mining, and statistical analysis.
Experience applying research methodologies and theory into practice.
Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data and statistics using quantitative and qualitative methods.
Experience with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) software, such as CORITY.
Familiarity of the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation, and Code.
Proficient in the use of business intelligence tools such as Microsoft Power BI, or Tableau.
Skilled in Microsoft365, including OneDrive, Word and PowerPoint.
Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in completing assigned tasks.
The ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
Strong and effective communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization and the public.
Experience in using geographical information systems (GIS) would be an asset.
Familiarity with police data and data models would be an asset.
A combination of education, experience and skill sets may be considered.
Hours of Work:
40.00 hours per week, Monday – Friday, subject to compressed hours of work program.
Salary Range:
21M, Grade 022: $39.978- $49.946 (Hourly), $3,198.20 - $3,995.70 (Biweekly), $83,474.06 - $104,287.25 (Annually).
The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
