We are currently hiring an Actuarial Analyst (Level I OR II) based in our Head Office in Burnaby. Please note that this is a hybrid role based out of our Burnaby, BC office. Applicants who are not located within commuting distance of our Head Office or are not looking to relocate to the Greater Vancouver/Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley region will not be considered. As an Actuarial Analyst (Level I OR II), you’ll play a key role in supporting pricing sophistication, underwriting capability, and product development for BCAA’s Property & Casualty insurance products. This role blends actuarial analysis with hands-on problem solving to deliver insights that enhance rating methodologies, support P&C portfolio performance, and strengthen decision-making across our insurance business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone progressing through CAS actuarial exams who wants to grow in a collaborative, corporate environment. You’ll work closely with senior actuarial team members, contribute to research and predictive modeling projects, and gain valuable exposure to property and casualty insurance analysis, product design, and risk assessment. You work well independently but also collaborate effectively in a team environment. You’re motivated to continue writing CAS actuarial exams and building your actuarial career. You communicate technical findings clearly, tailoring your message to both technical and non-technical audiences. What you’ll do: Contribute to the development of rating models and actuarial analyses to support product pricing and underwriting strategies. Assist in preparing and reviewing actuarial studies, including loss ratio analysis, trend analysis, reinsurance governance, etc. Work with senior team members to scope projects and establish appropriate actuarial or statistical approaches. Extract, clean, and analyze internal and external data sources to build accurate actuarial datasets. Contribute to research projects to deepen understanding of insurance portfolio performance and emerging risks. Continuously build actuarial knowledge while proactively sharing insights with team members. What you bring: Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related quantitative field. Minimum 2 years of actuarial or analytical experience, ideally within insurance. Consideration will also be given to candidates with relevant project or internship experience. Completion of at least 2 CAS actuarial exams, with continued progress towards an Associate designation. Knowledge of actuarial concepts including pricing, reserving, and risk analysis. Strong skills in statistical tools/languages such as R or Python. Experience working with large datasets and databases, and the ability to query, merge, and prepare data this data. Solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics to non-technical audiences. A proactive approach to problem solving, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Experience with dashboarding/visualization tools such as PowerBI or Tableau. Exposure to machine learning algorithms, clustering, or advanced predictive modeling. Familiarity with insurance product development or regulatory filings. Understanding of GIS or spatial analytics tools. Bonus Skills & Experience: Experience with predictive modeling or machine learning techniques applied to P&C insurance. Familiarity with regulatory requirements impacting property and casualty insurance. Knowledge of claims analytics, loss development, and reserving methodologies. Exposure to reinsurance structures and their impact on portfolio management. Internal Applicants: Please note that the internal posting closes on August 27, 2025, and the role is a Grade 11/12 position. The salary range for this position is $73,167.96 to $100,606.20 and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 9%, with the opportunity to earn up to 15%.
