POSITION SUMMARY
The Painter provides painting and decorating services to the hospital in accordance with the standards of the trade.
QUALIFICATIONS
-Grade 12 education with an Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Painter.
-Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Painter.
-3-years apprenticeship training with a demonstrated knowledge of the tools, equipment, methods and practices of the painting trade.
-Ability to work from plans, drawings, verbal instructions, with minimum supervision.
-Numerical ability is needed to estimate materials and to measure square footage.
-Verbal ability is necessary to communicate with workers and other members of hospital staff.
-Ability to evaluate information against measurable criteria and to work within set standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares surfaces to be painted/decorated by cleaning, strippling, sanding, filling patch plastering, etc.
Applies paint, varnish, stains, enamel, lacquer to protect interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of the hospital.
Erects scaffolding and protects floors, furniture, etcetera, with drop sheets.
Arranges for removal of furniture and occupancy of premises to be painted.
Performs and carries out other duties and assignments as directed by his/her Supervisor or Maintenance management staff as the need dictates.
Adheres to all safety regulations and ensures tools and work area are maintained to standard.
Responsible for maintaining inventory, including ordering supplies or materials needed for a specific job.
Handles lettering of signs for interior and exterior placement.
Creates special effects by applying paint with sponge, cloth, and brush.
WAGE RATE:
Hourly: $32.57.....$33.11.....$35.10
