This project is a multi-year initiative titled “Transforming Workplace Systems to Build Sustainable Capacity for Inclusion of Diverse Youth,” funded by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) under the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS). Administered through the University of Toronto’s Centre for Industrial Relations & Human Resources (CIRHR), this project aims to build employer capacity for barrier-free, disability-inclusive workplaces, particularly in the construction and manufacturing sectors. It prioritizes support for youth with disabilities (specifically those with neurodivergence, intellectual disabilities, or mental health challenges) through systems-level innovations, cross-sector collaboration, and the development of scalable tools, platforms, and frameworks.
Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Senior Research Officer, the Research Officers will support the research team by undertaking all aspects of the research process, including both quantitative and qualitative analysis. This includes conducting informant interviews, literature reviews, compiling research data, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, organizing reference materials and contributing to scholarly publications. Essentially, these assistants will be doing the day-to-day knowledge gathering, analysis and synthesis activities, help with knowledge translation, and also assist with report writing.
This is a term 18 month appointment. The Centre is recruiting for 3 vacancies
Your responsibilities will include:
- Scheduling day-to-day project activities
- Resolving issues in the course of test administration and escalating problems as required
- Creating and updating records
- Drafting documents for knowledge translation purposes
- Providing proactive support to individuals in distress and making referrals to specific university services
- Recording or verifying transactions on a single account
- Supervising the activities of research assistants
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. PhD in related field is considered a strong asset
- Minimum three (3) years in conducting qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research, including the design, development and analysis of surveys, interviews, and other research data collection.
- Demonstrated experience inqualitative and quantitative study design and analysis, including conducting systematic literature reviews and drafting documents for knowledge translation
- Experience scheduling and coordinating project activities
- Experience in trainingand coaching research assistants
- Strong grasp, understanding, and experience applying in advancing disability-inclusive employment practices in the construction and manufacturing sectors by supporting cross-sectoral partnership development, co-design, and systems-level innovation.
- Experience working in larger project teams, including relevant expertise in supporting the design, implementation and evaluation of project plans.
- Demonstrated experience with knowledge management and translation (e.g., data management systems, analysis, visualizations, etc.)
- Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills and ability to successfully work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational skills, time management and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and oral communications skills and experience working collaboratively and flexibly to meet deadlines and achieve project outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to work collegially and thoughtfully in team and group settings
- Ability to work independently, to organize key tasks, to stick to timelines and to take initiative.
- Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) required.
