Launched in 2017, our IPG Mediabrands industry-leading paid trainee program, The
Residency is a full-time permanent position where recent graduates with diverse
backgrounds gain practical experience. Rooted in experiential learning and
underpinned with custom curriculum, the program is designed to support on-going
learning and development.
Residents will gain applicable media industry knowledge while building
professional skills and general business acumen to launch a successful career in
media.
Residents will have the opportunity to work with our global and leading agencies
such as UM, Initiative, Media Experts, KINESSO, Orion, Magna and IPG
Mediabrands.
Don’t worry, we WON’T ask you to run for coffee.
You will be directly involved in projects and given actual tasks. In other
words, you’re integrated right into the team!
- Pitch Perfect Competition: Benefit from presentation experience! During the
program, trainees work on a 3-month long project that culminates in a simulated
pitch to a real client!
Areas of Opportunity - you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the various
functions within our organization, and our team will work with you to determine
which area best suits your skillsets:
- Media Planning - The role of a Media Planning Coordinator is to manage our
media planning product through preparing and presenting media plans,
proposals, and analysis. This role requires you to work as part of an
integrated media planning team to ensure the product is grounded in insights
and experience, resulting in flawless media executions.
- Media Buying - The role of a Media Buying Coordinator is to execute
traditional campaigns and oversee negotiations. This role requires you to
document all client media buys and prepare and present all documentation to
planning teams or client.
- Programmatic – The Programmatic Coordinator will work on digital campaign
management, from set up and website tagging to troubleshooting and general
support.
- Paid Social - The Paid Social Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day
account and media activity on assigned campaigns. You will support Senior
Specialists with paid social media strategy, campaign execution, and
optimization.
- Paid Search - The Paid Search Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day
campaign performance and execution on assigned campaigns. You will support
Senior Specialists with search engine marketing and optimization.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Analytical mindset and able to work within Excel spreadsheets quickly &
accurately
- Motivated self-starter
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and work well under deadlines
- Professional, reliable, results-oriented
- Enthusiastic about the media industry
- Storytelling abilities
- Eligible to work in Canada
Resident Criteria
- Graduating (or graduated) from an accredited college/university program
- Passion for the media industry
- Not returning to school in the Fall of 2026
The Residency program commences with an in-depth orientation and onboarding to
the business, inclusive of a comprehensive learning workshop called the Media
Bootcamp starting on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026.

Expected Salary: $40,000 - $43,000
IPG Mediabrands is providing the compensation range that the company is willing
to pay for this position based on the successful applicant’s education,
experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
