Your Opportunity
As a GIS Intern within the Environmental Business Operating Unit at Stantec Consulting Ltd. you will be tasked with utilizing geographic information system (GIS) technology to support various projects and initiatives. Your role will involve but not limited to, processing field collected data, and mapping to aid in environmental or engineering tasks. You will work under the guidance of senior staff, who will provide mentorship and ensure you gain practical experience. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills and apply them in real-world scenarios. Our GIS consulting team supports a wide range of professionals from vegetation ecologists, marine biologist, archaeologists, geomorphologists, to soil scientists and we’re looking forward to on-boarding a student to our team for the upcoming semester.

Developing geoprocessing scripts and work on updates to field data collection tools
Archaeology permitting and reporting
Geotechnical reporting
Marine substrate mapping
Habitat suitability mapping
Processing satellite image for land cover analyses
Linear referencing natural features along linear infrastructure
