We are seeking a skilled Human Resources Generalist to join the ActiveState Team, play a vital role in supporting and enhancing daily operations, improving efficiency, and ensuring smooth coordination between departments. You will manage a variety of administrative, documentation, tooling, and coordination tasks that are critical to keeping our remote workplace running at peak performance. You will also be involved in the creation and implementation of strategic programs and initiatives to align with our vision. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a digital environment, takes initiative, and excels at getting things done with a high degree of professionalism and accuracy.
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of a dynamic company of distributed employees across North America.
This position is available to remote workers anywhere in Lower Mainland, British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities
Champion the onboarding/orientation and offboarding processes, providing a best-in-class employee experience.
Manage HRIS administration and support our continuous improvement philosophy by streamlining processes and tools. This includes HR systems for Canadian and US employees, time-off management, rewards, and benefits administration.
Maintain the company intranet to reflect up-to-date policies and branding.
Populate Offer Letters, Employment Agreements, and other employee-related Contracts. Ensure compliance regarding employment legislation and support audits, reporting, and policy updates related to legal and regulatory requirements.
Support departmental and people managers on the interpretation and administration of policies, programs, and best practices.
Support the Recognition and Rewards Program, including employee engagement surveys, Bonusly, and collating results and action plans. Help plan and deliver initiatives that drive engagement, inclusion, and recognition.
Support the administration of the Performance Management and Training programs.
Be part of the company Culture Committee, organize and execute events within an assigned budget for team-building initiatives for a fully remote team (or occasional in-person events).
Coordinate travel and related logistics for company and departmental events within an assigned budget as requested.
Support the Information Security team by coordinating new hire and annual security training, background checks, and policy review and acceptance.
Coordinate immigration cases as needed by collaborating with legal counsel, preparing letters, and managing documentation.
Track and analyze HR data, reports, and trends to support better decision-making.
Assist the Talent Acquisition team with interview scheduling and ATS management as needed.
Support other strategic initiatives and development of policies, processes, and programs as required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Degree or Certificate in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field. Working towards or holding a CPHR or similar certification is an asset.
1-3+ years of experience in an HR or Administrative role. Experience working in a tech and/or remote-first environment is a plus. Experience supporting international teams (USA) is a plus.
Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
High level of discretion, judgement, and professionalism, particularly when handling sensitive and confidential information.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and digital document management tools.
Tech-savvy and must be able to learn new software tools quickly.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, document preparation, and proofreading.
Resourceful and proactive in identifying issues and implementing practical solutions.
Takes ownership of tasks, anticipates needs, and goes the extra mile without being prompted (able to work independently).
