DNV's Energy Systems North America Region is seeking Engineering Interns to work in the Advisory Services Department in the Service Area for Midstream/Downstream & Labs for a work term of 12 or16 months, starting in May 2026. This team of engineering consultants specializes in pipeline hydraulic and flow assurance modeling, internal and external pipeline corrosion management, hydrogen pipeline studies and computational fluid modeling.
The Engineering Interns will have the opportunity to learn how we initiate, develop, and complete engineering consulting studies for DNV clients. The positions report to the Head of Department in Advisory Services.
This role is based at our DNV office in Calgary, AB, presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. What You’ll do
Carry out consulting studies by applying engineering concepts such as fluid dynamics, heat transfer, thermodynamics etc.
Model pipeline systems and associated facilities from upstream, midstream to downstream
Compile data received from clients and determine the appropriate methodologies and calculations to solve issue at hand
Develop an understanding of all aspects of midstream/downstream projects - from design to operations
Learn how to use engineering software including Synergi Pipeline Simulator and Synergi Gas for pipeline hydraulic analyses, Abaqus and COMSOL for FEA analyses and many more (Beasy, IRIS etc.)
Engage in innovative energy transition projects involving hydrogen and carbon capture pipelines
Document analyses, processes, and procedures in a technical format to clearly deliver results, and the impact of those results, to client
Engage in a group of engineers and consultants, reviewing, and verifying each other’s work
Carry out compliance reviews of client assets and facilities
