JOB SUMMARY
Jump start your carpentry career in one of the most scenic workplaces around! As an Apprentice Carpenter, you’ll work alongside experienced tradespeople to learn the ins and outs of building and maintaining resort infrastructure. From assisting with framing and finishing to supporting seasonal projects, this hands-on role offers a unique opportunity to develop your skills while contributing to the upkeep and development of a year-round mountain resort.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Support journeyman carpenters with construction, repairs, and renovations across resort facilities
Assist with measuring, cutting, and assembling materials under supervision
Help maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in safe and organized condition
Participate in seasonal projects such as deck building, trail signage installation, and chalet upgrades
Assist tradespeople (carpenters, electricians, millwrights, plumbers) with routine maintenance and repair tasks across resort facilities
Learn to read and interpret basic blueprints and construction plans
Perform general labour tasks including site prep, cleanup, and material handling
Support with seasonal setup and takedown of ski hill infrastructure (e.g., signage, fencing, lift components)
Preform general painting, staining, and surface preparation for buildings, fences, and equipment
Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and small machinery under supervision
Observe and follow safe work procedures and building codes at all times
Contribute to snow load checks and monitor structural maintenance during winter months
Engage in training opportunities to build technical knowledge and hands-on experience
Other duties as required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is under the direct supervision of our Red Seal and Journeyman Carpenters and does not require any supervisory responsibilities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
Enrollment or completion of a recognized carpentry apprenticeship program preferred
Previous experience an asset
Basic understanding of carpentry tools, techniques, and safe practices
Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced tradespeople
Strong work ethic and ability to perform physical tasks in outdoor conditions
Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Valid driver’s license an asset
WORKING CONDITIONS
Hours of Operation are weather dependant. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$25.17 to $37.29/hour
