We’re looking for a Manager, Credit Risk to join our Risk team.
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Credit Risk, the Manager, Credit Risk oversees and manages credit risk across MCAN’s core business lines. This position is responsible for leading the Credit Risk team in providing independent adjudication oversight, with a primary focus on Construction & Commercial credit transactions and other investments.
What you will be responsible to do:
Review, challenge, advise, and adjudicate Construction & Commercial lending transactions.
Assess credit risks and mitigation strategies to ensure MCAN operates within policy and risk appetite limits.
Monitor underwriting exceptions and material amendments, recommending enhancements to Frameworks as required based on emerging trends.
Analyze credit policies in accordance with regulatory guidelines, make recommendations for approval, and assist in implementation of policy changes.
Produce and review reports identifying credit trends at the portfolio level.
Prepare quarterly Credit Risk reporting for Board of Directors.
Prepare and review of regulatory reporting submissions.
Provide Credit Risk related challenge and recommendations to business line for new products, services, and initiatives.
Qualifications and Work Experience:
Business, finance, or math-related University degree preferred.
CFA, CPA or MBA will be an asset.
Work Experience:
5+ years relevant work experience in a risk-related function within the financial services industry.
Construction or Commercial Lending experience is a must, preferably in the areas of Commercial Real Estate lending, Construction Financing, and/or Commercial Credit Risk Management.
Prior commercial credit adjudication experience is considered an asset.
Comprehensive understanding of the Canadian residential real estate/housing market, as well as land use & development entitlement processes are considered an asset.
Skills & Abilities:
Well-developed writing skills sufficient to precisely articulate ideas that involve interpretation, analysis, and assessment of complex conceptual subjects.
Strong verbal communication and presentation skills.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to synthesize information into key messages.
Ability to make sound decisions and suggest appropriate recommendations to senior management.
Demonstrated ability to develop trusted collaborative working relationships across multiple stakeholders.
Highly focused attention to detail and drive to deliver high-quality results.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
