Job Description What is the Opportunity? RBC Capital Markets is undertaking a green field project to build a new capability to serve corporate clients. Your role will be to use your deep knowledge of data, combined with your understanding of client and business needs to create the business context to bring the data governance and data quality management principles to life for the US Cash Management team and clients alike. You are a thoughtful, proactive, creative, analytical individual with a passion for solving problems for your colleagues and clients through the use of data. What will you do? Act as the primary contact for all aspects of data quality rules, design, implementation, testing, reporting, and data quality issue management. Defining the data quality control requirements using the lineage of Critical Data Elements (CDE’s) from originating source to point of consumption. Understand any transformation / data filtering that may be performed during the flow of CDE data from source to point of consumption, and the rationale for same. This can include the need to understand the completeness and accuracy controls associated with the data lineage flow. Drive the E2E implementation of the data quality controls (preventative and detective) based on the data lineage flow Manage the data quality risks and control effectively and recommend any new or enhanced controls consistent with stakeholder requirements. Develop trusting relationships with our partners and stakeholders to ensure our deliverables align with the current and future needs of our businesses and prioritized accordingly. Identify options to optimize the process of lineage capture and documentation. Accountable for the data classification and PII identification as per the data security standard. Advise system owners and business process owners of applications on best practices for maintaining a business glossary, metadata, data classification and lineage. What do you need to succeed? Must-have 7+ years experience supporting a data initiative Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology or related field Strong understanding of data governance principles, the data lifecycle from collection through storage and usage, as well as metadata and lineage management concepts and practices Deep knowledge of data governance and data management concepts such as critical data elements, data lineage, data accuracy and completeness and data controls Understanding of technical data concepts such as data ingestion, data warehouse, data lakes, master reference data, data models, systems of record, aggregation layer and reporting systems Experience with using Jira and Confluence Excellent business communication skills (written and oral). Ability to work independently and possess strong analytical and data problem-solving skills What's in It for You?
