About the Role
Steelhaus Tryton Canada is seeking a Payroll/Jr. Accountant to join the team throughout our multiple manufacturing and service companies. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring payroll is timely and accurate, as well as supporting the finance team with various functions in between payroll periods.
To excel in this role, you will need to manage a high volume of work in a fast-paced setting and be able to adapt quickly to changes.
Position Details
Status: Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Calgary, AB (Downtown)
Duties and Responsibilities
Payroll
Input, verify, and process payroll on a bi-weekly basis for approximately 140 to 400+ salaried and hourly employees
Complete payroll audits to ensure information is up-to-date and complete for payroll processing
Verify and review timesheets
Review and maintain vacation requests, sick day tracking, bereavement, and authorized absences submitted through Payworks
Respond to all employee and manager inquiries relating to payroll in a timely manner
Perform year end activities including preparing T4s, T2200 reporting, WCB annual filing, and all other related reporting
Process bonus payments as required
Input and process new hires, leaves, terminations, and salary adjustments
Create and submit ROEs to Service Canada
Manage RRSP contributions
Coordinate with Human Resources for benefit premiums and enrollments
Assist with WCB, STD, LTD claims processing
Prepare and post all payroll related journal entries, and accruals
Other ad hoc payroll reporting as required
Staying informed on changing Canadian legislation
Other tasks or duties as assigned
Jr. Accountant
Support the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
Record day-to-day financial transactions (journal entries, invoices, payments)
Record and maintain accurate financial transactions in the accounting system
Support month-end and year-end closing activities
Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
Perform basic financial analysis as directed by supervisor
All other related tasks as required
Required Abilities, Knowledge, Experience
Candidate must have a minimum of two years of relevant payroll and accounting experience.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Working knowledge of Payworks and Business Central (NAV) an asset.
Ability to work with sensitive information by maintaining high level of confidentiality
Experienced delivering exceptional customer service within a challenging environment
Highly collaborative, team player
Strong analytical skills and a passion for accuracy and attention to detail
Exceptional verbal and communication skills
Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
