Job Title: Community Connections Assistant
Location: St. John’s, NL
Position Type: 1 full-time position until March 31, 2026, with possibility of extension pending budget availability and satisfactory performance

Reporting to the Community Connections Coordinator, the Community Connections Assistant is responsible for delivering the ANC volunteer program; supporting Community Connections activities such as events and social groups for ANC clients; supporting the provision of translation services as needed and developing and maintaining community partnerships to enhance client support.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Volunteer Management Lead the promotion, recruitment, screening, selection, orientation and monitoring of volunteers
Maintain current volunteer data such as contact information, availability, and expertise/areas of interest
Coordinate and monitor volunteer placements in consultation with ANC colleagues
Ensure all volunteer records are maintained up-to-date. Respond to volunteer inquiries, emails, and phone calls in a timely manner
Conduct monthly check-ins with volunteers involved in the Volunteer Match Program
Develop quarterly skill development sessions for volunteers based on program needs Maintain and enter accurate consistent program statistics
General Programming Contribute to the ongoing improvement and development of policies and procedures relevant to the advancement of Community Connections
Assist in the planning and implementation of group programming for ANC clients
Organize, attend and actively participate in community events as a representative of ANC settle into the local community
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in social sciences, Social Work, or Humanities or a combination of equivalent experience and education
Experience in volunteer programming and/or management
Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with a variety of community stakeholders
Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication (written and oral) skills
Experience writing project reports and meeting compliance requirements of funders
Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity in working with a diverse client group
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize competing priorities
Ability to speak an additional language/s an asset (Rohingya, Dari, or Pashto preferred)
Conditions of Employment:
Legal authorization to work in Canada
Flexible to work outside of core hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm)
Valid class 5 NL driver’s license and daily access to a reliable vehicle
required
Some travel required
Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary
