The Role
As an Intern Technical Animator at Compulsion Games, you will help in shaping and evolving our animation pipeline. Technical Animation is a key bridge between animation, art, programming, and design. You will be involved in the creation/integration of animation-related assets into Unreal Engine. You will be expected to operate in 1 or more areas of craft with frequent assistance, detailed direction and mentorship.
Example Responsibilities
Complete small tasks with guidance from more senior team members.
Create/Update content using established rigging and animation tools.
Collaborate closely with experienced team members to iterate on animation systems in Unreal Engine and the design of animation Blueprints for interactive gameplay.
Break down and detail the needs of small work.
Contribute reasonable ideas, based on education/training.
Communicate and identify any issues or concerns with works deliveries.
Regularly refer to documentation.
Skills and Experience
Understanding of Video Game industry craft principles.
Solid capacity to learn and improve.
Ability to adapt to relevant animation pipelines and discipline workflows.
Knowledge of Maya, with foundation in rigging and deformation.
Familiarity with Unreal Engine, including Animation Blueprints, control rigs, and real-time workflows.
Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot small tasks and systems.
Scripting skills and interest (Python, MEL, Blueprint) would be a plus.
Good communication and collaboration skills.
Interest in learning/exploring the different aspects of Technical animation.
Appreciate how the craft of animation overlaps with other disciplines to enhance the player experience.
This is a full-time position, with a salary, based in our Downtown Montreal location, by Atwater Metro station. We are only considering students who will be enrolled in an accredited degree program. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis during the internship (January 2025 – May 2025). Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
