Why this role is important? We are hiring a Senior Manager, Decision Support & Analytics, to join the Workflow Optimization & Capacity Planning team and help shape the future of pharmacy operations at Canada’s largest drug retailer. This is a high-impact role that blends quantitative rigor, tool development, and business decision support. You will build algorithms and models, conduct time studies, and generate insights that guide planning, scheduling, and workflow design at national scale. The successful candidate will combine technical expertise with strong business acumen and communication skills. Key Responsibilities: Decision Support & Analytics Design structured, quantitative approaches to address planning, scheduling, and workflow challenges Architect decision-support tools (Python, R, SQL, Excel, Power BI) that are robust yet usable by less-technical team members. Translate ambiguous operational challenges into structured problem statements and actionable recommendations. Deliver clear, concise presentations to senior stakeholders, simplifying complexity and influencing decisions. Workflow & Labour Optimization Build and validate labour and resource models to support safe, efficient dispensing and patient services. Conduct time and motion studies to analyze in-store operations and surface improvement opportunities. Report on operational success metrics and perform statistical/exploratory analysis to identify new insights. Support continuous improvement initiatives, identifying and validating opportunities for better workflow design. Operational & Strategic Planning Contribute to the annual operational planning and budgeting process through robust labor and capacity models. Liaise with Store Operations, Technology, Finance, Planning, and Pharmacy Program teams to align recommendations with enterprise priorities. Advance the organization’s decision-support practices and analytical toolkit. What You Bring: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or related discipline. 5+ years of experience in applied analytics, planning, or operational improvement roles. Strong proficiency in Python or R, SQL for working with large datasets, and visualization tools such as Power BI. Advanced Excel skills; VBA is an asset. Experience designing models or algorithms for labour planning, scheduling, forecasting, or workflow analysis. Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to frame complex, ambiguous problems into clear decision frameworks. Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to simplify technical detail into clear, actionable insights. Demonstrated balance of technical expertise and business acumen. Nice to have: experience in retail or healthcare, or familiarity with process mining or simulation. Why work at Shoppers Drug Mart?
