PROGRAMMING - EPIC GAMES SERVICES
WHAT WE DO
Driving the plug-in power behind Unreal Engine 5. We bridge connections for
licensees and our own internal game teams to online services. This allows games
like Fortnite to utilize a combination of platform online services as well as
Epic’s own online services to build cross-platform online features. Login,
parties, voice chat, matchmaking, purchasing, cloud storage, and analytics are
just a few examples of online features that our Online Game Services team helps
games utilize.
ECOMMERCE PROGRAMMER INTERN
WHAT YOU'LL DO
We are looking for a motivated and curious Backend Programming Intern to join
our programming team. As a backend intern, you will contribute to the
development of APIs, services, and infrastructure that support our eCommerce
platform. You’ll work closely with experienced developers to gain hands-on
experience with backend technologies, development workflows, and scalable
software systems.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL
- Assist in the design and development of backend services, APIs, and database
models
- Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews
- Collaborate with frontend programmers, designers, and product managers to
build features
- Help troubleshoot bugs and optimize performance across systems
- Learn and apply best practices for building secure, scalable web services
- Support integration with third-party services and tools
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Programming, or a
related field
- Strong programming fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, etc.)
- Experience with at least one backend language (Java preferred)
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and basic web protocols
- Exposure to SQL or NoSQL databases (e.g.PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
- Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn
- Familiarity with Docker or containerized environments, Interest in cloud
platforms (AWS)
- Personal or school projects that demonstrate backend development
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively in a collaborative
environment
This internship has a flexible start date in 2026. Recruitment will be ongoing

PAY TRANSPARENCY INFORMATION
The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each
base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be
expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a
variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills
and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base
pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans
and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or
programs).
British Columbia Base Pay Range
$74,695—$89,634 CAD
