ABOUT THE ROLE
As a member of the Growth team, you'll play a key role in driving business
outcomes by helping users find increased value and efficiency with GitLab.
Results for customers [https://handbook.gitlab.com/handbook/values/#results] is
at the top of our values hierarchy because we know that our customers’ success
directly drives ours. Ensuring a frictionless experience for users who want to
get started, trial, purchase, and explore new features is essential to
delivering results for our customers. As a designer in this space, you’ll be
instrumental in making that happen.
The acquisition team is a newly established group within Growth, presenting an
exciting opportunity to help shape the team's direction and processes.
Initially, we'll be focused on optimizing our signup flows and team invite flows
to reduce friction and drive key acquisition metrics for new users and teams
getting started with GitLab. You'll play a crucial role in designing intuitive,
streamlined experiences that help users seamlessly onboard and bring their
teammates into the GitLab ecosystem.
Here are some links with extra information:
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- You’ll work alongside UX Researchers, Product Managers, and Engineers to
iterate on new features within the GitLab product.
- You'll collaborate with teams across the product and across the business to
optimize signup flows and team invite experiences, reducing friction and
improving conversion at key touchpoints that drive new user acquisition.
- You’ll communicate your design thinking and ideas through wireframes,
prototypes, user flows, mockups, and high-fidelity visual designs.
- You’ll help develop hypotheses and establish clear success metrics to test
new features or product changes and determine their impact on user experience
and business outcomes.
- You'll help establish growth methodologies and best practices that other
product teams can adopt to improve onboarding, feature adoption, and
discoverability within their own areas.
- You’ll engage with our users, prospects, and the wider GitLab community to
understand their pain points and work toward long-term fixes that enable them
to succeed with their goals.
- You’ll undertake usability testing to validate your thinking. (We have an
excellent team of UX Researchers who can offer guidance, as needed.)
- You’ll contribute to our Design System [https://design.gitlab.com/],
alongside the rest of the UX team and the GitLab community as a whole.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- Must have demonstrated experience working as a Growth designer, or working in
a growth-relevant area such as onboarding, user acquisition, free-to-paid
conversion, feature adoption, etc.
- Familiarity with product experimentation.
- Domain knowledge or background in DevSecOps.
- Experience fostering collaboration across multiple product teams and
stakeholders.
- Experience conducting your own research with a variety of methods, and strong
decision making skills for when to do research.
- Strong visual design skills with the ability to balance leveraging the design
system and recognizing when a unique component is needed.
ABOUT THE TEAM
Product Design supports the teams at GitLab by becoming experts in our stage
group, educating ourselves about the entire product, and staying engaged with
user and business goals. We partner closely with our stable counterparts in
Product Management and Development. As Product Designers, we are the owners of
design judgment. We start with a problem to solve and always first consider what
the best experience for the user would be.
Please note that we welcome interest from candidates with varying levels of
experience; many successful candidates do not meet every single requirement.
Additionally, studies have shown that people from underrepresented groups
