THE ROLE
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join our finance team. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this role is responsible for processing vendor invoices and payments, reconciling accounts, assisting with month-end journal entries, and preparing required government reports. The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, and able to build strong vendor relationships while maintaining confidentiality.
Reports To: Senior Accountant
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Analysis and recording of revenue from Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
Preparation of all Ministry reporting.
Preparation and submission of periodic government reports on a timely basis.
Calculation and recording of expense and payroll accruals and allocations as necessary.
Preparation and recording of payroll journal entries.
Preparation of financial reports and packages related to construction projects for new builds/renovations.
Issuing payments by processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
Overseeing accounts payable activities including monitoring vendor account balances, inquiries, and invoice processing.
Communication with accounting and administrative personnel at homes regarding accounting issues.
Regular review and analysis of balance sheet amounts.
Preparation of other month end adjusting journal entries.
Preparation of schedules for the year-end audit.
Performs other duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
College or university education in accounting or related area.
Possesses strong computer and technology skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Superior organizational and prioritization skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect the integrity of financial documents.
Ability to work in a team and independently with minimal supervision.
