We are seeking to fill a full time permanent position (40hrs/week) of Countertop Assistant at Provincial Wood Products branch, a division of Richelieu Hardware.
Position Overview:
The Countertop Assistant plays a key role in the production and preparation of laminate countertops tailored to customer specifications. This role involves working with a variety of materials, tools, and equipment in a fast-paced warehouse environment. The successful candidate demonstrates precision, initiative, and a strong ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet tight deadlines.
More specifically, your main tasks will be:
- Perform cutting, capping, and build-up of laminate countertops according to customer requirements.
- Assist in the installation preparation and shipping/receiving of countertop materials.
- Operate tools and equipment used in the cutting and assembly of countertops.
- Handle incoming materials and ensure products are properly stored and inventoried.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Ensure product quality and accuracy through careful attention to detail.
- Support the team in meeting production targets and deadlines.
Requirements:
- High school diploma.
- Previous experience in building materials installation or a manufacturing/production environment is an asset; training will be provided. (minimum 1 year of experience)
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, tools, and methods used in cutting laminate countertops.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and product assembly.
- Experience in shipping and receiving operations.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position: extended periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and regularly lifting items up to 100 lbs.
- Strong work ethic, initiative, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in cutting materials such as wood, laminate, or countertops.
- Knowledge of countertop materials (e.g. laminate, MDF, particle board).
- Valid forklift certification.
- Ability to read plans or take precise measurements.
