Who we need
Reporting to the Director, Business Optimization, we are looking for a Project
Manager, Business Optimization, to join our newly formed team. You will lead
initiatives that improve operational efficiency and drive strategic results
across the institution. You will partner with cross-functional teams to identify
opportunities, make recommendations, implement solutions, and measure the impact
of change.
This is a full-time role, currently following a hybrid model working both
on-site at our Toronto location and remotely.
What's in it for you
Impact. You will play a critical role as part of a transformational group where
you will identify, shape, and embed operational and strategic improvements that
drive measurable value across the institution. You will contribute to projects
with a focus on enhancing the student experience and driving institutional
effectiveness.
Ownership. You will own projects end-to-end, gain exposure to multiple
functional areas, and build expertise in operational improvement,
transformation, and change management. You will join a supportive, inclusive,
and collaborative team that values input, provides guidance, and allows you to
work autonomously on one project at a time, offering work-life balance.
Career development. Yorkville University is a progressive, forward-thinking,
innovative education centre. You will join an organization that inspires change,
nurtures collaboration, supports faculty and students in their journey, and
continuously innovates. You will work with a leader who values autonomy,
collaboration, and accountability.
As our new Project Manager, Business Optimization, you will:
- Lead strategic projects. You will oversee and support the planning and
delivery of strategic and transformation projects across multiple functional
areas. You will assist in designing and implementing project plans, including
timelines, resource planning, and stakeholder engagement.
- Execute and deliver. You will partner with business units to carry out
project activities, managing day-to-day tasks while ensuring deliverables are
completed on time and to a high standard. Balancing collaboration with
execution, you will help move initiatives from planning through to tangible
outcomes.
- Measure. You will monitor project milestones, track performance metrics, and
prepare status reports. You will use data visualization and reporting tools
(e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) to develop dashboards and track KPIs.
- Leverage analytics to drive decisions. You will conduct research, data
analysis, and benchmarking to inform business decisions and uncover
opportunities for optimization. You will work with internal teams to identify
pain points and recommend scalable, data-informed solutions. You will build
presentations and documentation to communicate recommendations and project
outcomes to senior leadership.
- Optimize. You will contribute to a continuous improvement culture by
proactively identifying areas of opportunity and innovation.
You have:
- The education and experience. You have a post-secondary degree in Business or
a related field. You have demonstrable full-cycle project management
expertise, acquired through consulting, private equity, or a
transformation-focused industry role. Or, you may have several years in
operations, corporate development, or transformation. Your strengths include
the ability to identify, shape, and embed operational and strategic
improvements that drive measurable value, and you have strong analytical,
critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Equally, you are comfortable
rolling up your sleeves to design, build, and implement solutions, ensuring
strategies are translated into real outcomes.
- The project management. You have successfully managed complex
cross-functional initiatives from end to end in a fast-paced, dynamic
environment. You excel in project, resource, and change management,
demonstrating the ability to navigate complexity and drive results. Beyond
oversight, you are hands-on in managing deliverables, coordinating tasks, and
ensuring execution aligns with strategy. You are highly organized with strong
attention to detail, and you take a solution-oriented, proactive approach,
ensuring nothing falls through the cracks. You are disciplined and decisive,
capable of taking ownership and making informed decisions to keep projects on
track. You are proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Smartsheet. Familiarity
with Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or other BI tools is an asset.
- The consulting skills. You have the curiosity and logic to ask probing
questions to gain insights and in-depth understanding of the needs of the
business and end users. You can effectively translate these needs into
technical requirements, generating documentation, building workflows and
business processes, and creating PowerPoint presentations to share concepts
and end goals with stakeholders. You have exceptional communication and
presentation skills. You can build trusting and influential relationships
across all levels of the organization.
