Licensed Heavy Vehicle Mechanic (Full Time) - Edmonton, AB
This position is responsible for the safe functions involved in the repair and maintenance of compressed gas equipment (Road or Rail) and commercial vehicles.
Main Responsibilities Include:
Maintain, service and repair compressed gas liquid cryogenic, carbon dioxide, gaseous hydrogen trailers and rail car pressure vessels
Repair and service trailer diesel engines and pumping systems
Repair and replace cryogenic pumps and high-pressure pumps
Repair and maintain hydraulic pumping systems
Perform brake jobs, replace upper couplers, suspension components, lighting, electrical, annual inspections and all running gear components
Perform annual commercial vehicle inspections
Perform Transportation of Dangerous goods inspections – VIPK UC – tank inspections
Complete maintenance work orders
Enter maintenance into maintenance software program
Perform repairs on ABS, RSS, electronic braking systems
Shift work and extended shift hours may be required
Required Qualifications:
Education
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
Preferred: H.E.T. license, Computer skills, WHMIS, TDG Training, Class 1 Drivers License, basic/advanced welding skills
Experience
Preferred 3+ years of experience working on heavy commercial equipment (tractor, trailer)
Proven experience in a garage environment
Experience with computerized vehicle maintenance software
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds
Ability to use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating parts and tools repetitively.
Performing physical tasks that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials up to 50 pounds.
Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time to complete specific maintenance tasks.
Heavy Equipment License (H.E.T)
CVI license
Class 1 driver license preferred
Copy of drivers abstract, no points
Basic knowledge of B.A.G. and CO2 equipment
Computer literacy
Ability to travel overnight on occasion to remote locations to perform maintenance tasks
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers (Logistics, management, Suppliers and vendors)
Able to work on rotating shifts and be available for overtime
Punctual
Complete hazard assessments when required and document results
