Job Description
We are currently looking for a Structural Engineer to join our team based out of St. John’s, Newfoundland. This person should have strong interpersonal skills and experience in structural engineering design/analysis. Project management experience will be considered an asset. This is an opportunity to be part of an established newer team with room to grow and participate in multidisciplinary projects and work with professionals that are contributing to the successful growth of their team and business. This is a hybrid position based in the St John's, NL region with travel to Labrador City, NL (minimum quarterly, or as needed per project).
Primary Responsibilities
Work with a team of structural engineers for both work management and mentoring
Work within a multidisciplinary design team as a Project Engineer, reporting to the Project Manager
Complete site visits to document existing conditions in both greenfield and brownfield projects
Carry out structural detailed design / analysis (related to General Arrangements, structural steel, concrete, etc.)
Prepare detailed drawing review and mark-ups for designers/drafters
Complete budgetary estimates, write proposals, technical reports and studies
Familiar with structural analysis software (STAAD Pro, S Frame, SAP2000, SAFI
Review and approve structural fabrication drawings
Participate in formal engineering review processes
Complete projects from kick-off through completion of Construction / Commissioning
Work on industrial (with focus on mining and hydroelectric facilities), commercial, institutional, and government projects
Qualifications
University Degree in Civil Engineering
Registered or able to register as an Engineer with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland & Labrador (PEGNL) – an asset
5-10 or more years of relevant experience
Proven experience in the mining industry an asset
Capacity to interact within a multidisciplinary environment
Client-focused, keen to understand their problems and recommend solutions
Must be willing to travel to remote work sites. Travel to the Labrador City, NL office will be a requirement for this position
