We are currently looking for a talented Machine Builder to join our team! Are
you a new grad from a technician program ready to take on challenging, hands-on

Roteq Machinery Inc. is an engineer-to-order company specializing in conceiving,
designing, and manufacturing of rotating equipment for the wire and cable,
umbilical, flexible pipe, and hose manufacturing industries. Our projects are
customized for our diverse customers resulting in a machine designed and
manufactured specifically for the application. Roteq Machinery’s projects span
the full range of rotating equipment including armouring, stranding, cabling,
taping, and includes auxiliary equipment for complete production lines.
Here’s what you will do as Machine Builder:
This hands-on position plays a vital role within our mechanical team,
responsible for the assembly, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of
custom-built machinery and mechanical systems. Leveraging a broad range of tools
and techniques, the Machine Builder supports both in-house operations at Roteq’s
Headquarters and assists with field work at customer sites, delivering expert
services in commissioning, repairs, and operator training.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematic diagrams and drawings to determine
work procedures;
- Assemble and install custom machinery and mechanical components according to
engineering drawings, blueprints, and mechanical schematics;
- Utilize a variety of machine tools—including grinders, drill presses, and
saws—to fabricate custom parts needed for machinery setup, maintenance, and
overhauls;
- Perform mechanical setup, alignment, and testing of machines and systems;
operate newly built machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of the
build;
- Operate forklifts, hoists, and overhead cranes to position and install
equipment as required;
- Observe and perform diagnosis of mechanical equipment failures and corrective
actions;
- Analyze machine error messages, and information obtained from operators to
diagnose equipment problems; Repair and replace defective or malfunctioning
components;
- Disassemble and reassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts, perform
inspections and repairs;
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on machines within the
facility installing new equipment as needed;
- Interact with customer operators, maintenance personnel, engineers and
management professionally and confidently;
- Complete required documentation including time sheets, service reports and
feedback and suggested drawing changes;
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering,
production, and management, to ensure seamless execution of projects and
continuous improvement;
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area; follow all safety protocols
and PPE requirements; ensure compliance with all safety and quality
protocols;
Requirements
- Education in Tool and Die, Mechatronic Technologist, Machine Building,
Mechanical Technician, or Industrial Millwright program with strong hands-on
skills;
- Valid Canadian Class G driver’s license with a clean driving record;
- Ability to travel internationally (e.g., U.S., Mexico) (after onsite
training);
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and
mechanical schematics;
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and basic welding/fabrication
equipment;
- Experience with machine tools such as grinders, drill presses, and saws;
- Troubleshooting skills in mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems;
- Ability to detect malfunctions, and repair or fabricate and replace defective
parts;
- Familiarity with standard preventative maintenance procedures and
documentation practices;
- Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills and keen attention to
detail;
- Strong independent judgment and decision-making within established policies
and safety standards;
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team
environment;
- Committed to maintaining compliance with internal processes, quality
standards, and safety protocols.
