Program Overview – Integrated Employment Services, Community Programs
The Business Development Representative (BDR) is a critical frontline member of
WoodGreen’s Corporate Engagement and Workforce Solutions Team. We are seeking
candidates with experience in Business to Business(B2B), Software as a Service
(B2B SaaS), IT services, or workforce development who understand how to execute
outbound prospecting using modern sales technology.
The BDR is responsible for identifying leads, initiating engagement, booking
meetings, qualifying prospects, and creating warm entry points for Account
Executives and Job Developers. This role is designed for a high-energy,
goal-oriented professional who can convert outreach into opportunities by
leveraging tools, personalization strategies, and market intelligence.
What You Will Do
Prospecting & Employer Outreach
- Execute daily outreach to prospective employers using personalized email,
LinkedIn messages, cold calling, and video prospecting tools
- Follow up on marketing campaigns, webinar attendees, event leads, and
AI-driven account signals
- Participate in in-person or virtual employer events and hiring forums as
needed to support prospect engagement and deepen relationships with
high-priority accounts.
- Book meetings and hand over the qualified leads to Account Executives and Job
Developers with full context
- Manage outreach cadences based on sector triggers and account tiering.
- Leverage modern outbound tools such as Apollo, ZoomInfo, Instantly, Clay, or
equivalent platforms to build and manage your own outreach database while
maintaining a high level of personalization across all touchpoints.
Lead Qualification & Discovery
- Conduct initial discovery calls to identify hiring needs, workforce gaps, and
program alignment
- Qualify employer leads based on Ideal Corporate Profile (ICP) and labor
market fit
- Track objections, intent, and stage of lead to support targeted follow-up by
employer-facing teams
- Maintain feedback loops on lead quality and adjust qualification strategies
accordingly
- CRM & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the CRM (HubSpot, Salesforce, or
similar)
- Log outreach activities, call notes, objections, and follow-ups
- Report on key performance indicators including outreach volume, meetings
booked, response rates, and SQL handoffs
- Collaborate with the Campaign Manager to track intent signals within the
ideal corporate profile (ICP) database and continuously refine outreach
messaging based on real-time engagement insights.
- Tools & Tech Enablement
- Use tools like Apollo, ZoomInfo, Instantly, Clay, and LinkedIn Navigator for
prospecting and intent detection
- Use video tools (Loom, Sendspark) for personalized follow-ups
- Stay up-to-date on AI-enabled prospecting enhancements to increase
effectiveness
- Collaboration & Strategic Alignment
- Partner with Campaign Manager to align messaging and outreach targets with
program strategy
- Provide feedback on campaign performance and suggest new sectors or company
lists based on field signals
- Participate in employer meetings as needed for context-sharing and continuity
- Collaborate with Account Executives and Job Developers to create a seamless
prospect-to-partner transition
General Responsibilities
- Ensure the anti-racism objectives and community development principles of the
organization are achieved within the programs.
- Work with other staff to ensure ongoing collaboration and coordination within
the unit and the organization.
- Contribute to the achievement of WoodGreen Community Programs Unit’s wider
objectives through collaboration with the management team.
- Adhere to policies and procedures such as service standards, Collective
Agreement, Privacy, Bill 168, AODA standards and other related legislations.
- Work with partner organizations to enhance service capacity and client
benefits.
What You Bring to the Team
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree major in Sales / Marketing, or a related
discipline
- 2–3 years of proven experience in new business development or outbound
Business to Business (B2B) sales, ideally within Software as a Service(SaaS),
IT services, consulting, or workforce solutions.
- Demonstrated success in identifying, prospecting, and engaging new employer
accounts across various sectors such as Construction, Retail, Healthcare, and
Professional Services.
- Skilled in using outbound prospecting tools like Apollo, ZoomInfo, Instantly,
or Clay to build employer/accounts lists and initiate cold outreach.
What Will Set You Apart
- Experience managing full-cycle outreach, from initial research and contact to
booking first meetings and uncovering employer needs.
- Proficient in CRM tools such as HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics, or Salesforce to
maintain accurate records of prospecting activity, employer profiles, and
follow-ups.
- Comfortable reaching out to senior decision-makers (e.g., CXOs, VPS, HR
Directors, Operations Managers, Talent Heads) with targeted messaging.
- Prior exposure to employment programs, staffing solutions, or workforce
development partnerships is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Results-oriented with a strong drive to build new relationships and uncover
opportunities.
- Strong research and targeting skills, able to identify ideal accounts based
on industry, size, hiring patterns, and local relevance.
- Effective communicator who can craft compelling outreach messages and build
rapport through calls, emails, and professional networking platforms.
- Comfortable working independently in a structured, data-driven sales
environment.
- Strong sense of ownership with the ability to manage pipelines, prioritize
leads, and pursue follow-ups systematically.
- Committed to inclusive outreach practices, with sensitivity to equity,
diversity, and community impact.
- Comfortable working across systems, databases, and reporting tools
- Analytical and curious, with the ability to spot trends and adjust outreach
accordingly
- Collaborative and able to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Quick to learn, adaptable, and solution-focused in fast-paced environments
