Role Overview
We are looking for a Tailings Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to support our
commitment to safety and environmental compliance in tailings management. In
this role, you will provide technical support to Mill Operations, focusing on
safe and effective tailings deposition while adhering to established safety and
environmental procedures. You will assist in developing short-term deposition
plans and infrastructure requirements aligned with long-term strategies.Key
responsibilities include conducting monthly reconciliations of deposition plans,
collecting and maintaining tailings data, and producing regular reports. You
will also perform field quality control tests for geotechnical materials, track
costs associated with tailings activities, and assist with water management
calculations. Engaging in surveying and GPS fieldwork using RTK equipment and
drone photogrammetry, you will support infrastructure inspections and provide
project management coverage as needed. If you are a safety-conscious individual

Core Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental
rules and procedures.
- Provide technical support and operational targets to Mill Operations as
needed to ensure the ongoing safe and effective deposition to meet our design
and storage requirements.
- Develop short term deposition plans, and infrastructure requirements that
align with Mill Operations long term deposition strategies.
- Conduct monthly reconciliation of deposition plans and ongoing mass balance
analyses to demonstrate deposition objectives.
- Collect and maintain tailings data and produce regular reports.
- Conducting field quality control tests for geotechnical materials as part of
dam construction.
- Track costs associated with tailings activities and manage critical parts
inventory.
- Assist with water management and water balance calculations related to
tailing and site wide water systems.
- Surveying and GPS field work, using RTK equipment and drone photogrammetry.
- Perform infrastructure inspections and generate maintenance reports and
orders.
- Provide project management coverage as needed.
Education & Experience
-
3 to 4 years operational, construction, or design work experience in the
mining industry specific to tailings storage facilities

Engineering degree in a Civil, Geotechnical, or a Mining related field.

Registered, or able to register, as a Professional Engineer with the
Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia or registered as an EIT with
progression plan to obtain Professional Engineer status within 1 year.
Skills & Competencies
- Able to work alone in an outdoor setting and in adverse weather conditions.
- Experience with GPS/survey applications is considered an asset.
- Ability to problem solve, communicate effectively and manage time.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Good knowledge of all MS office applications with the ability to perform
basic programming in Excel.
- Familiar with water balance software (HEC-HMS) or GIS software would be
considered an asset.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
