Role Overview
The Mine Maintenance Electrician plays a key role in maintaining the safe and
reliable operation of electrical systems. This includes the installation,
inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment and
infrastructure critical to mine operations.
Working both in the pit and shop complex, the Electrician supports production by
ensuring haul trucks, shovels, drills, pumps, substations, and shop facilities
operate with minimal downtime. The role requires strict adherence to safety
standards, regulatory compliance, and mine site policies, particularly given the
high-voltage systems and challenging environmental conditions common to
large-scale open-pit operations.
Core Responsibilities
- Strong focus on safety, the environment and contributing to a zero incident
workplace.
- Meeting production and maintenance goals.
- Performing electrical maintenance associated with electric drive haul trucks,
electric rope shovels, electric rotary drills, mine pumping, working on hv
distribution systems up to 69kv, crushing, milling and instrumentation.
- Working alongside various trades personnel on coordinating major overhauls.
- Contributing to the development of apprentices.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Inter-provincial Journeyman Trade Certificate.
Skills & Competencies
- Valid Canadian driver’s license.
- Preferred open pit mining experience relating to:
G.E Diesel/electric drive systems
Electric mining shovels
Power distribution and PLC control systems
- Industrial experience in other fields considered an asset.
