Objective
The Portable Power Repair Technician is all about producing a strong and reliable fleet to help our customers stay powered and get the job done right. With safety at the forefront, we inspect, test, and diagnose generators and electrical equipment and repair on site to keep our customers’ jobs moving.
Responsibilities:
Diagnose and repair portable power equipment as it relates to various diesel and electrical equipment, including diesel, gas and LP generators.
Ensure all equipment is rental-ready and meets set quality and safety standards.
Follow the appropriate checklists and procedures and can read and refer to owner’s manuals and schematics.
Operate and test equipment under actual operating conditions, where possible.
Diagnose and provide guidance to Service Technicians on the appropriate service/repairs required.
Assist in making decisions related to equipment retirement.
Possess excellent product knowledge and can effectively transfer this knowledge to customers. This includes but is not limited to explaining features and benefits, safe operating techniques and promoting related accessories/products.
Ensure every customer is treated in the same fair and consistent manner and resolving issues as they arise.
Follow all paperwork and computer procedures related to servicing of equipment.
Maintain all inventory control documents to preserve the integrity of the Rental Management computer system.
Requirements:
3 years of generator repair or related experience.
Heavy equipment trades certification is an asset
EGSA certification is an asset
Small engine repair experience is an asset
G Class (ON)/Class 5 (AB) Provincial Driver’s License and current clean driver’s abstract.
Must possess a mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience with Health and Safety training is an asset (i.e. WHMIS, etc.).
Action-oriented with attention to detail and a focus on quality and safety.
