Job Description What is the opportunity? This position is responsible for prudent management of reinsurance within the insurance businesses of RBC, oversight and due diligence of reinsurers including counterparty credit limits with the enterprise and ensure reinsurance contracts (“treaties”) deliver the anticipated results by negotiating contracts that deliver the anticipated benefits. This role will also provide advice & counsel to business partners in the ongoing management of the reinsurance portfolio. This position will collaborate closely with reinsurance counterparties, operation and pricing teams to carry out the mandates. What will you do? •Accountable for due diligence and review / selection of reinsurers in accordance with the Reinsurer Selection Framework and produces annual report for senior management •End-to-End reinsurance placement includes, but is not limited to, reinsurance narrative, exhibits, portfolio analysis, reinsurance broker management, risk / opportunity identification, retention analysis, limit analysis and providing recommendations for placement •Accountable for ensuring that treaties, including Letters of Intent (“LOI’s”), recaptures, terminations, innovations, and other such amendments, are completed on a timely basis •Maintenance of records for all reinsurance treaties which includes responsibilities for the system where documents reside •Responsible for various reinsurance reporting What will you need to succeed? Must have: •5+ year’s reinsurance experience preferably with a reinsurer or in a corporate role at an insurer with particular emphasis on handling all aspects of reinsurance placements •Strong working knowledge of life business regarding the reinsurance marketplace, regulatory practices, contract wordings, rating agencies, accounting and administration •Knowledge of life direct insurance operations, including administration, underwriting and claims •Strong negotiation, problem solving and collaborative leadership skills, •Strong written and verbal communication skills.
