The Senior Engineer, Mechanical will be responsible for mechanical systems engineering on new construction projects at Vancouver Shipyards. Under the direction of the Manager, Mechanical Systems, the Senior Engineer, Mechanical will participate in all phases of new construction design projects, including requirements decomposition, design preparations, supporting analysis, material selection and specification, engineering execution, and engineering close-out activities. This role is also responsible for liaising with internal and external counterparts to ensure that mechanical systems are designed in accordance with current equipment information and the production design standards and procedures.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.

Coordinates and executes engineering tasks, ensures integration of systems into the ship.
Designs engineering solutions and associated validation process, develops and enforces discipline-specific standards.
Specifies methods, processes, and requirements to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials.
Monitors and reports on progress and cost.
Approves engineering solutions within their technical delegation.
What you'll bring
Bachelor's degree.
Minimum 7 years of progressively senior experience in Engineering, with 10 years desirable.
P.Eng. Designation.
Experience overseeing the work of others.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership competencies.
Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical systems and ship construction processes.
Advanced knowledge of ShipConstructor and AutoCAD software, document control systems and databases desired.
Knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP) and purchasing management systems a plus.
Demonstrated effective leadership and influencing skills and practices.
Ability to proactively engage with other engineering disciplines.
Strong technical writing skills, including the ability to produce and present clear, detailed written technical specifications, procedures, and reports.
Availability and willingness to travel internationally and domestically as the Employer deems necessary to meet business needs.
Committed to a high standard of safety and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the employer's safety policies and rules.
Exercise sound judgments and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
Proficiency required for PC required. Working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office 2010 software suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).

The estimated salary for this position is $119,700 - $146,300. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
