Accountabilities: Incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties as below. •Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received. Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs. Present a positive image (well-groomed/dressed) and represent TSA well while on duty. Work with minimal supervision. Must comply with all Salvation Army policies, procedures, and associated legislation. Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Reports directly to Corps Officer. Direct reports: n/a. FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT: Collect donations and petty cash and ensure donations are always kept secure. Working Conditions: This is a temporary casual relief position based on no standard weekly hours of work; there are no guaranteed hours Must be willing and able to work shifts that may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break. Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per the Christmas Kettle Campaign operational requirements. Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification. Local travel may be associated with this position. Work environment is typically in malls/stores Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather. Education, Qualifications and Certifications: Completed High School or equivalent Related experience is an asset Skills and Capabilities: Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Reliable transportation to kettle location. Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs.). Candidates with an understanding of working in Canadian Workplaces is considered a strong asset. Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. Honest, courteous, and punctual; represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner. The ideal candidate will be approachable, enthusiastic, and skilled at initiating conversations to inspire interest of the kettle campaign. Candidates should be comfortable interacting with diverse audiences and have a natural ability to draw people in and promote the campaign Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities. Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $17.85 to $19.69 with a maximum of $23.63. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
