Responsibilities
What does your day look like as a Mechanical Engineer, Operations Support and Heavy Equipment Procurement?
You support sites that use heavy machinery (forklifts, wheel loaders, cranes) with reliability issues, replacements, and major repairs;
You train mechanics on preventive and corrective maintenance procedures;
You collaborate with heavy equipment suppliers for acquisitions and service contracts;
You maintain relationships with heavy equipment manufacturers (Volvo, Liebherr, Komatsu, Caterpillar, etc.);
You work with the procurement and operations teams to draft tenders based on heavy equipment needs;
You analyze the bids received;
You inspect and review heavy equipment maintenance;
You perform reliability analysis in the field and plan equipment replacements;
You act as a safety ambassador for maintenance mechanics;
You provide leadership within the maintenance supervisors’ community;
You stay informed about grants and funding opportunities for equipment replacement.
Qualifications
To succeed as a Mechanical Engineer, Operations Support and Heavy Equipment Procurement, you must have:
A degree in mechanical engineering or as a mechanical technician;
10 years of experience in managing maintenance and rehabilitation projects for heavy equipment (forklifts, loaders, excavators);
Advanced skills in electrical diagnostics, programming, and signals. Proficiency in OEM telematics suites;
TWIC card (an asset);
Valid passport required;
Bilingualism required, Spanish an asset; Given the diversity of our team and the need to communicate with local, pan-Canadian, and international clients and partners, proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written, is required;
Strong sense of priorities and ability to adapt in a constantly evolving environment;
Attention to detail, autonomy, and a focus on continuous improvement and collaboration;
Ability to work or travel outside normal working hours as operational needs require;
Excellent priority management and ability to work under pressure, especially when troubleshooting heavy equipment breakdowns.
