Astellas Pharma Canada (APCA) is currently searching for a Therapeutic
Specialist, Women’s Health reporting to Regional Sales Manager, Canada.
Purpose & Scope:
The Therapeutic Specialist is passionate and driven with a strong background in
women’s health to spearhead the introduction of our first in class product,
dedicated to improving the lives of women through innovative healthcare
solutions.
Will be responsible for driving sales growth and market share expansion within
assigned territory, while embodying the cultural pillars of being competitive,
ambitious, and accountable.
Will achieve annual sales forecasts and deliver sustainable ROI through
implementation of the Astellas strategy, utilizing approved sales and marketing
materials while managing appropriate budgets and resources.
Has solid scientific understanding, clinical acumen and expert knowledge of
Astellas and competitor products. This knowledge is essential to conduct
knowledge exchange with multiple clinical specialties in the assigned
therapeutic area on clinical trials, disease state, screening and patient
identification, practice structure, clinical care pathways and integrated models
of care to enhance patient outcomes.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Promote Astellas' women's health product to healthcare professionals,
including obstetrician and gynecologists, primary care physicians, nurses,
nurse practitioners and pharmacists, through effective sales presentations
and medical education activities.
- Develop and execute strategic territory plans to achieve sales targets and
objectives, leveraging market insights, competitive intelligence, and
customer segmentation to identify opportunities for growth and market
penetration.
- Utilize business acumen to analyze market trends, competitor activities, and
customer needs, applying brand strategies and tactics accordingly to maximize
sales success.
- Conduct comprehensive customer profiling to identify key influencers and
decision-makers within target accounts, tailoring sales messages and
solutions to address their specific needs and preferences.
- Foster collaboration with internal stakeholders, including marketing, medical
affairs, and market access teams, to support product launch activity.
- Successfully leverage omnichannel to engage with healthcare professionals
through a variety of communication channels, including in-person visits,
virtual meetings, email, conferences, medical education activities etc.
- Demonstrate recent launch experience by successfully introducing new products
to the market, driving awareness, adoption, and market penetration within a
competitive landscape.
- Navigate and succeed in a complex reimbursement environment by understanding
payer dynamics and patient access programs.
- Identify unmet educational needs of health care professionals and delivers
non-promotional learning programs aligned with APCA approved education
strategies to facilitate exchange of information on related scientific and
clinical issues. Organize and conduct learning activity events adhering to
Astellas Learning SOP and IMC Code of ethical practices.
- Exhibit leadership, accountability and internal motivation to achieve and
surpass individual and team sales targets.
- Demonstrate consistent strong teamwork and winning attitude and positive
approach.
- Accurately report/submit sales call activities, territory expenses and
written reports and within deadline as defined by Astellas or the Regional
Sales Manager.
- Attend all company-sponsored sales and medical meetings as directed by
company management. This includes national and international conferences as
directed by regional sales manager.
- Ensure territory sales strategy execution using annual territory business
plan, regional business plan, and call activity reports.
- Responsible for personal compliance and helping embed a compliance culture
within the affiliate.
- Additional duties as needed.
Quantitative Dimensions:
Accountable for driving sales vs target for their territory, arriving at sales
operating budget targets for their territory and executing on all sales
execution metrics and territorial KPIs established for the brand.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
Required:
- University degree required.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in sales experience in the
pharmaceutical/health care industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively communicate scientific
information is imperative.
- Established business acumen and budget management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and customer relationship management databases
(Veeva).
- Must be willing to travel approximately 30%.
Preferred:
- A degree in life sciences or business.
- Therapeutic Area experience; Women’s Health.
- Extensive or recent product launch experience.
- Bilingual English/French (Territory Specific).
