GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Clinical Resource Radiation Therapist is responsible for the daily planning, organizing and supervising of assigned operational aspects of the Radiation Therapy area. The Clinical Resource Radiation Therapist monitors compliance with radiation therapy practice standards to ensure that high quality treatment plans are produced and administered to cancer patients requiring Radiation Therapy. The Clinical Resource Radiation Therapist ensures the work environment enables and supports excellence in radiation therapy practice and promotes high quality of work life and safety for Radiation Therapy Department staff. This position supports the Provincial Radiation Therapy Program. This position typically reports to the Director of Radiation Therapy and/or Site Manager, Radiation Therapy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Radiation Therapy and Master’s Degree in Science, Health, Leadership, Education or other related area
OR
Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Radiation Therapy and CAMRT Advanced Certification in Radiation Therapy
OR
Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Radiation Therapy and CAMRT Specialty Certification in CT or Dosimetry
OR
Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Radiation Therapy and Certification in Medical Dosimetry
OR
Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Radiation Therapy and Certification in Quality Management/Leadership
Certification for Basic Life Saver (BLS)-C
Experience:
Three (3) years previous experience as a Radiation Therapist II
OR
Five (5) years previous experience as a Radiation Therapist with a minimum of three (3) years with supervisory/management experience
Memberships:
Licensed with Saskatchewan Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (SAMRT)
Membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
Skills:
Proficiency with a variety of computer systems and software applications.
Must be proficient in all phases of the Radiation Therapy process including patient setup, CT simulation, treatment design, dose calculation and treatment.
Communication skills are required to develop and present complex information including written documentation and verbal presentations.
Initiative and independent judgment required to solve complex problems.
Human relations skills are required to develop formal relationships of a therapeutic nature to assist others in achieving their short or long term goals.
Ability to assume responsibility for work over others on a daily basis.
Demonstrates leadership skills.
Accuracy of fine motor movements required for data entry and using gantry on treatment machines.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers, patients/clients and/or the community.
Maintain confidentiality.
Knowledge of culturally responsive care for First Nations and Métis people.
