The Eskasoni School Board is seeking to fill a teacher vacancy.
Reporting to: Principal
Location: Eskasoni Elementary School
Term: Temporary term until June 2026
Anticipated start date: October 27, 2025
Job Summary
The teacher will be responsible for the supervision and evaluation of all students within their teaching assignment. The Teacher will demonstrate a strong commitment to planning to support student achievement and work collaboratively in a team environment.
Requirements:
Valid NS teacher certification;
Teaching experience an asset;
Knowledge and experience with application of technologies to enhance instruction and learning (ie: google classroom, etc);
Knowledge of Mi’kmaq language and culture an asset;
Knowledge and experience implementing inclusive teaching strategies for students with academic and behavioral needs;
Ability to work closely with TA’s to oversee and ensure appropriate educational programming;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
Excellent classroom and student management skills.
Salary: According to Eskasoni Teacher Salary Scale.

In accordance with the Eskasoni Teachers’ Union Local 80510 Collective Agreement bargaining unit members will be given preference.
Preference will be given to Indigenous people in accordance with the Aboriginal Employment Preferences Policy of the Canadian Human Rights Commission.
Successful applicant will be will be required to provide satisfactory criminal record with vulnerable sector check and child abuse registry check prior to commencing employment.
