Reporting to: Director, Student Services
Hours of work: 8:30 am to 3:30 pm (Monday to Thursday and 3:00 pm on Fridays)
Location: Training and Education Centre - 76 Logan Drive, Eskasoni
Employment status: Full-time term employment
Starting salary: $43,961.00
Summary:
The Administrative Assistant plays a vital part in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the school office, fostering a positive and professional environment for students, parents, and staff.
This role requires exceptional organizational, detail-oriented, and time-management skills.
Responsibilities:
Provide administrative support to the school administration and staff.
Greet and assist students, parents, staff, visitors courteously and professionally.
Manage the reception area, answering phones, and directing inquiries when needed.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, attendance data, and other school documents.
Assist in the organization of meetings, in-service activities and events.
Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive information and situations.
Assist with preparation of reports, presentations, diploma/certificate and documents.
Responsible for ordering office supplies, groceries and maintaining inventory of office supplies.
Assist with coordinating school events and activities, assisting with logistics and registration.
Determine and establish office procedures.
Tacking attendance for staff and students.
Assist with data input and maintain data in student information systems.
Other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
One year post-secondary diploma in office or business administration or with high school equivalency combined with two years of administrative experience.
One year of administrative experience.
Prior experience in a school setting an asset.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Fluency in Mi’kmaq and English is required.
First Aid and WHMIS required or willingness to obtain upon hire.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Gmail, docs, sheets, google classroom).
