Position Summary
Bow Valley College is seeking a (Temporary) Student Recruitment Specialist to support the planning and execution of dynamic, portfolio-driven strategies aimed at attracting a diverse range of domestic students. Reporting to the Manager, Recruitment, this position plays a key role in advancing the goals of the College’s Marketing and Recruitment Plan by engaging prospective students, building meaningful partnerships, and representing Bow Valley College at various events and outreach activities. This role requires frequent travel within and outside of Calgary, and may include occasional evening and weekend commitments.
The Student Recruitment Specialist promotes Bow Valley College through engaging presentations and information booths to high school, adult, and non-traditional learners, as well as professionals from industry, agencies, and community organizations. This role involves developing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders such as high schools, community agencies, and employment organizations to expand recruitment networks and enhance visibility.
As a knowledgeable brand ambassador, the Specialist collaborates with internal schools and departments to remain up to date on program offerings, admissions requirements, and college services. Additionally, the Specialist contributes to the creation of recruitment materials and content that support presentations, events, and marketing initiatives.
In an advising capacity, the Specialist meets individually or in small groups with prospective students to discuss their educational and career goals, provide accurate information on programs and admissions, and guide them through application and enrollment processes. The role requires the use of student information systems and CRM tools to support prospective learners and ensure timely follow-up and communication.
Event management is another key aspect of this role. The Specialist plans, coordinates, and evaluates recruitment events and campus tours, ensuring that each initiative aligns with the College’s recruitment strategies. Responsibilities include developing event plans and budgets, coordinating logistics, managing communications, and leading post-event evaluations. The Specialist may also assist with major institutional events such as Open Houses and New Student Orientations.
Finally, the Student Recruitment Specialist contributes to ongoing recruitment strategy and evaluation by researching market trends, identifying new opportunities, and providing insights that inform the College’s broader Marketing and Recruitment Plan. The role involves gathering and analyzing data to measure the effectiveness of recruitment activities and continuously improve outreach efforts.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree.
Minimum of 2 years’ work experience in an educational environment serving diverse clientele.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Valid Alberta driver’s license and unrestricted ability to rent vehicles.
Ability to travel frequently.
Successful completion of a Police Information Check, including Vulnerable Sector clearance.
An equivalent combination of directly related education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in student recruitment or related administrative work.
Knowledge of Bow Valley College programs and admission processes.
Understanding of student funding options and pathways.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with business database systems (preferably student information systems or CRMs).
