The Act is designed to enhance public safety by enabling the creation of a new Alberta Sheriffs Police Service (ASPS). The amendments ensure the ASPS functions as an independent policing body with strong accountability enhanced civilian oversight, transparency, and accountability. To assist in these efforts, a temporary implementation team has been established within the Public Security Division to lead the work to implement the ASPS. Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager of Operational Planning the Senior Operational Planning Analyst executes assigned tasks and contributes to the development of policing standards and procedures that will guide the operational functionality of the ASPS. The position will use their strong understanding of operational planning to support the work of the management team in the development of the ASPS operational framework. The position will also use their strong communication and relationship building skills to provide operational support under the direction of the manager to support the team objectives.Responsibilities include: • Support the development of the ASPS through operational planning and research.• Analyze organizational structures and service delivery models to inform decisions. • Prepare briefing materials and strategic documents under tight timelines. • Collaborate on communication strategies and stakeholder coordination. • Assist with managing external contractors and project implementation. • Provide operational analysis for senior management and issue resolution. • Maintain planning tools and inventories to support long-term strategy.Please click on this link to view the job description for this position.APS Competencies

A university degree (4 years) in Public Administration, Organizational design, Business Administration, Social Sciences or any other closely related field, plus four (4) years progressively related experience; or equivalent.Equivalency - Directly related education or experience will be considered on the basis of:• 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; OR• 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.Assets: • Experience managing and implementing multi-phase complex projects.• Experience in operational planning research, analysis, and reporting.• Public Safety and Emergency Services-related experience.• Experience in policing oversight. • Experience with legislation.
