Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, the IT Solutions Manager is responsible for designing IT technical solutions for APEGA projects and initiatives. The Solutions department is responsible for the technical architecture of applications, and integrations. This includes managing internal and external IT resources to design and provide technical solutions to meet specific project and business outcomes.
Responsibilities
Setting IT design direction, standards and methodologies for APEGA applications
Collaborating with IT Operations to establish and maintain infrastructure standards and design practices
Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements, prioritize tasks, assign resources, and monitor progress to complete system enhancements or implementation of new technologies.
Ensure the efficient utilization of IT resources – including personnel and equipment – across the organization.
Coordinate interrelated activities between project managers, business, IT and vendors.
Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements, prioritize tasks, assign resources, and monitor progress to complete system enhancements or implementation of new technologies.
Lead solution architecture activities to proposed solutions to problems and requirements.
Coordinate and facilitate meetings with business users and IT to determine business requirements.
Ensure accuracy of business requirements with respect to project business outcomes.
Translate business requirements into technical requirements.
Manage and document technical requirements in design documentation.
Analyze business and technical requirements for implementation feasibility.
Recommend technical solutions to business requirements.
Provide knowledge transfer of information from knowledgebase to project members. including supporting the transition to operations process as projects complete.
Set up, configure and maintain IT tools to allow for progression tracking of IT related activities.
Support and oversee all project development, testing and implementation activities.
In collaboration with Project Managers, ensure solutions meet the agreed scope, timeline and budget; escalating concerns when appropriate.
Provide monthly workload status updates.
Oversee the creation of APEGA Application Roadmaps and plans.
Recommend and design APEGA Application improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
Establish and maintain regular updates with the organization’s executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities.
Create and maintain technical documentation for IT Applications.
Continual evaluation of suitable applications for IT team usage in providing better customer service.
Oversee the IT technical architecture portfolio.
Secure and manage internal and external positions to fulfill project roles.
Identify roles and responsibilities required for projects.
Assigning appropriate IT work to project team members for execution.
Manage IT Solutions staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions for IT Solutions team.
Make recommendations on selection, training, and evaluation of staff to IT Director.
Mentor and train staff in new procedures or initiatives. Ensure staff in the department are continuously cross trained in the responsibilities of others within the department

IT technical and operational standards (ITIL) and/or best practices (Six Sigma).
Strong knowledge in databases (SQL), development (.NET), content/document management systems (SharePoint, ImageConnect), workflow and forms (Nintex, Formatta), networking (security, firewalls), infrastructure (VMWare), and system administration (Exchange, Windows Server, IIS, Tomcat/Apache, SQL Server, Active Directory) are essential.
Experience in large systems implementations will be considered an asset

Qualifications
Post-secondary degree in information systems technology, computer science, software or computing networking or a related field
8 + years of progressively responsible related experience in medium IT environments managing IT staff.
Certifications in IT security, networking, virtualization and/or project management would be considered assets.
Equivalencies may be considered.Solid knowledge of Microsoft Suite and budgeting practices using Excel.
