As a CNC Brake Press Operator, you will be responsible for operating metalworking machines to shape and form steel into parts used in the manufacture of heavy equipment. To excel in this role, a commitment to ensuring high-quality products are produced efficiently and safely is required.
Location: 54 Morton Avenue, East, Brantford, ON
Dedicated Aft. Shift: 3:00pm – 1:30am (Monday-Thursday)
Shift Premium: $3.00/hour in addition to the base rate
Job Duties
Read and interpret blueprint specifications to set-up brake presses of various sizes and thicknesses of materials to make precision bends
Set up the brake press to produce quality parts and maintain press daily to keep it clean and in good working condition
Follow safety protocols and wear prescribed personal protective equipment to prevent injuries
Use various measuring instruments (e.g., Vernier, protractor, measuring tape, and micrometer) to ensure parts of defect-free, correctly shaped, and meet required dimensions and specifications
Safely operate jib cranes to load and unload material from brake presses
Lay out, set up and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines such as shears, power presses, saws, plate rolls, drills, brakes, slitters, punch presses, computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment, and other hand tools to cut, bend, roll, ream, punch and drill, weld or otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products
Work collaboratively with other production team members to meet production goals and timelines
Skills and Experience
Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands and be able to deal with frequent changes, delays or other unexpected events
Ability to read blueprints, diagrams and engineering drawings
Ability to read and understand tape measure / protractor and other measuring tools
Mathematical, mechanical, and technical skills are considered an asset
Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve effectively and efficiently
Physical requirements include standing for long periods of time, lifting up to 50 pounds, and bending
Qualifications
Experience operating metalworking machines; previous brake press experience preferred
