System Test Specialist – Québec (Hybrid)
As a System Test Specialist you will contribute directly to the validation and quality of our PIC (Photonic Integrated Circuit) and CTP10 product stations. Working closely with the R&D and integration teams, your primary role will be to design, document, and execute manual test plans across complex systems that integrate optical, electrical, and mechanical instruments.
We are looking for someone autonomous and resourceful, capable of quickly learning the testing environment and taking ownership of test planning and execution in a context where existing product knowledge is still developing within the team.
Your Role
More specifically, as a System Test Specialist, you will:
Design and document manual test cases to validate new features and product behavior;
Execute tests on PIC and CTP10 stations, which include a wide variety of laboratory instruments (e.g., lasers, optical sensors, motion controllers, signal generators);
Collaborate with developers, system engineers, and integration teams to understand product functionality and ensure proper coverage;
Identify, document, and track bugs or unexpected behavior through issue tracking tools;
Create and maintain clear and reusable test documentation for future QA activities;
Help build product knowledge within the team by sharing insights and documentation.
What We’re Looking For
Technical Skills
Experience in manual testing in a hardware/software integrated environment (lab instruments, optical/electrical setups, test stations, etc.);
Ability to create test plans and test cases based on high-level requirements and exploratory testing;
Familiarity with using or validating optical, electrical, or mechanical equipment in a lab context is a strong asset;
Comfortable documenting test procedures and using bug tracking systems (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, etc.).
Aptitudes Required
Strong autonomy: able to self-learn, take initiative, and drive testing forward independently;
Analytical and detail-oriented mindset to spot edge cases and inconsistencies;
Excellent documentation and communication skills to support test clarity and issue reporting;
Collaborative attitude to engage with multidisciplinary teams and help improve product quality.
Requirements
Education: Diploma or degree in a technical field such as electronics, optics, instrumentation, computer science, or equivalent experience;
Experience: Minimum 5 years in a lab testing role or QA involving manual test execution;
Languages: Proficient in French, and able to read and write in technical English.
